Investigation leads to an arrest and seizure of firearms, suspected heroin, THC wax and paraphernalia

On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, a Nolan County deputy conducted an investigation on a suspicious white Ford sedan that was parked on the shoulder of the roadway on State Highway 70, just outside of Blackwell. Contact was made with the driver, Samuel Yamron, of Round Rock who was accompanied by a female passenger, of Austin.

During a roadside investigation, the deputy discovered that Mr. Yamron had an outstanding warrant, and immediately arrested him. In continuance of the investigation, firearms, suspected Heroin, and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) wax were discovered, along with a substantial amount of paraphernalia.

Mr. Yamron was placed under arrest and transported to the Nolan County jail where he was charged with the felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, and the misdemeanor offense of unlawful carrying weapons.

On Sunday, October 1, 2017, a Nolan County deputy responded to the report of a suspicious white pickup that was parked in the roadway on county road 182, in Roscoe. Contact was made with Raygan Andrews, of Colorado City, who was accompanied by Crystal Brown, of Odessa.

During a roadside investigation, the deputy detected indicators of criminal activity. An Investigator with the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office then responded and assisted with the investigation. A probable cause search of the vehicle was then conducted, that led to the discovery of stolen property, a firearm, suspected methamphetamine, and paraphernalia used in its consumption.

Mr. Andrews and Ms. Brown were placed under arrest and transported to the Nolan County jail where they were charged with the felony offense of possession of controlled substance. Mr. Andrews was charged with an additional felony offense of unlawful possession of firearm by felon.

Upon further investigation, the couple was found to be in possession of items stolen during a recent burglary. Investigators with the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office and Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office assisted in recovering additional stolen items from the burglary, which had been taken to those counties. These items recovered were returned to their owner, and Mr. Andrews and Ms. Brown were charged with the felony offense of burglary of a building.

Sheriff David Warren swears in new Deputy

Sheriff David Warren swore in a new deputy on Thursday, September 7, 2017. Deputy Eddy Hernandez took his oath of office and received his badge in the presence of family and friends to commemorate this special occasion. His mother was present at the ceremony and pinned the badge on him.

Deputy Hernandez began his law enforcement career in December 2015, and was assigned to the communications section of the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office. He worked as a telecommunicator while attending the West Central Texas Law Enforcement Academy, in Abilene, and was among a total of 24 cadets who graduated training on August 30, 2017, acquiring the title, Texas Peace Officer.

Traffic Stop leads to an arrest and seizure of suspected methamphetamine

On Thursday, August 24, 2017, a Nolan County deputy working in collaboration with Investigators of the 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office stopped a brown Ford pickup for a minor infraction near the 235 mile marker on Interstate Highway Twenty. Contact was made with the driver, Kenneth Aaron Blair, of Colorado City.

The Nolan County Constable assisted with the traffic stop, and during a roadside investigation, the deputy detected indicators of criminal activity that subsequently lead to the discovery of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.

Mr. Blair was placed under arrest and transported to the Nolan County jail where he was charged with the felony offense of possession of controlled substance.

Criminal Mischief (Blackwell)

On Monday, July 31, 2017, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of criminal mischief that occurred at the Blackwell Riding Arena/Pavilion located near the intersection of East Lottie Street and College Avenue. It was reported that sometime between Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 12:00PM and Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 10:00PM, an unknown person(s) entered the Pavilion. Once inside, the criminal(s) overturned and destroyed tables, destroyed lighting, paint materials and damaged the concrete floor. Damage to the property is estimated at approximately $5,200.00.

Burglary of Habitation (Sweetwater)

On Saturday, July 29, 2017, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary that occurred in the 200 block of Skelly Lane, in Sweetwater. It was reported that on Saturday, July 29, sometime between the hours of 9:15AM and 10:51AM, an unknown person entered the residence. Once inside, the thieve(s) rummaged through the residence, located and took $100.00 in United States Currency.
