Burglary of Building (Nolan)

On Monday, June 26, 2017, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Burglary that occurred in the 300 block of County Road 205, in Nolan. It was reported that sometime between Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at approximately 5:30PM, and Sunday, June 25, 2017 at approximately 5:30PM, an unknown person(s) traveled onto the property, and used force to enter a building. Once inside, the thieve(s) took an antique cooler. The combined value of the cooler and damage to the property is estimated at approximately $750.00.

Burglary of Habitation (Sweetwater)

On Tuesday, June 8, 2017, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Burglary that occurred in the 700 block of County Road 109, in Sweetwater. It was reported that sometime between Tuesday, June 6, 2017, and Thursday, June 8, 2017, an unknown person(s) traveled onto the property, and used force to enter a residence. Once inside, the thieve(s) took numerous Scentsy products, and a duffle bag. The property that was taken has a combined value of approximately $489.00.

Traffic Stop leads to an arrest and seizure of suspected methamphetamine, heroin and paraphernalia

On Sunday, June 18, 2017, at approximately 2:55AM, a Nolan County deputy stopped a gold Chevrolet Suburban in the 900 block of Lamar Street, for minor traffic infractions. Contact was then made with the driver, who was accompanied by passenger George Gonzales, of Sweetwater.

During a roadside investigation, the deputy discovered contraband which lead to the discovery of suspected heroin and methamphetamine. A probable cause search of the vehicle was then conducted, which lead to the discovery of contraband commonly used in the consumption of the suspected narcotics. A Sweetwater Police K9 was utilized in the probable cause search of the vehicle.

Mr. Gonzales was placed under arrest and transported to the Nolan County jail where he was charged with the felony offense of possession of controlled substance. This case will be filed with the 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Theft (Nolan)

On Thursday, June 1, 2017, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft that occurred at the Sojouner Drilling Corporation tank battery site, located in the 1600 block of Farm to Market Road 126, in Nolan. It was reported that sometime between Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 9:30PM and Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 11:15PM, an unknown person(s) traveled onto the property, and took approximately 109 barrels of crude oil, valued at an estimated $5,555.88.

Criminal Mischief (Lake Sweetwater)

On Monday, June 12, 2017, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of Criminal Mischief that occurred at the Lake Sweetwater Golf Course, located in the 22000 black of Farm to Market Road 1856, in Sweetwater. It was reported that sometime between Sunday, June 11, 2017, at approximately 7:30PM, and Monday, June 12, 2017 at approximately 6:30AM, an unknown person(s) traveled to the golf course and drove a vehicle across the #13 green. Damages to the green are estimated at approximately $10,000.00.

The Nolan County Sheriff’s Office welcomes new Deputy

Steven Guerra was sworn in Monday morning at the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office as the newest deputy sheriff. In attendance at the swearing in were a couple of his new colleagues including, Sheriff David Warren.

Steven is a native of Dumas, Texas, and a 2011 Canadian High School graduate. He graduated from the Panhandle Regional Law Enforcement Academy, in Amarillo, and has been in law enforcement for three years, including working as a patrol officer for the Dumas Police Department, and a patrol deputy for the Sherman County Sheriff’s Office.
