Traffic stop leads to an arrest and seizure of methamphetamine

TARWATER, JACKIE THOMASOn Monday, July 27, 2015, at approximately 8pm, several infractions prompted the stop of an S10 truck in Sweetwater, leading to the arrest of one occupant and seizure of a substance deputies determined to be methamphetamine, paraphernalia used in its consumption and electronic equipment.

A Nolan County deputy stopped a white S10 truck in the 900 block of Elm Street for several traffic and equipment infractions. Contact was made with the driver who was accompanied by passenger Jackie Tarwater, of Sweetwater. Both men were requested to exit the vehicle where a roadside investigation could be conducted.

While speaking with the men, the deputy became concerned after receiving conflicting stories in regard to property he saw inside the vehicle, whereupon he requested and was denied consent to search. During the investigation, information was received justifying a “probable cause” search.

A search of the vehicle was conducted which lead to the discovery of a large amount of suspected methamphetamine, concealed under the passenger seat, paraphernalia used in its consumption and electronic equipment.

Tarwater was arrested and transported to the Nolan County jail where he was charged with the felony offense of manufacture/delivery of methamphetamine. The case will be filed with the 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Criminal Mischief (Lake Sweetwater)

2005YellowDodgeRamRumbleBee.jpg~originalThe Nolan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of criminal mischief that occurred over the July 4th weekend at the Lake Sweetwater Golf Course. It was reported that on Saturday, July 4, 2015, between 4:00PM and 5:00PM, the driver of a yellow Dodge “Rumble Bee” pickup, drove the vehicle onto the golf course, and began doing donuts. The malicious actions of the driver caused approximately $17,500.00, in damages to the 10th and 12th greens, and the 1st hole beside the clubhouse. Witnesses described the pickup to have a yellow Mopar decal on the back glass, and reported the driver to be a white male who was accompanied by a white male passenger and a white female who was seated in the middle, between the two men. It was also reported that while the vandals destroyed the property, they were firing off fireworks. The pickup was last seen traveling northeast on FM 1856.

Traffic stop leads to an arrest and seizure of methamphetamine, paraphernalia and urine samples

HAYES, DUSTIN LYNNOn Friday, June 19, 2015, at approximately 11:15pm, a Nolan County deputy stopped a tan GMC Sierra for a minor traffic violation in the 300 block of East Broadway, Sweetwater. Contact was made with the driver, Dustin Hays, of Tennessee who was accompanied by a passenger of Sweetwater, a known methamphetamine user.

Both individuals were requested to exit the vehicle where a roadside investigation was conducted. During the investigation, signs of criminal activity became evident; consequently the deputy requested consent to search the vehicle but was denied.

The Sweetwater Police Department was then contacted, and a K9 unit was requested. Officer Daniel Olds arrived on scene and deployed a K9, where an open-air sniff operation was conducted. The K9 alerted on the driver side of the vehicle, as it made its way to the console area, justifying a “probable cause” search.

A search of the vehicle was conducted which lead to the discovery of a zip baggy containing suspected methamphetamine, concealed underneath the console. Also located in the vehicle was drug paraphernalia and two clear containers of clean urine samples, commonly used by narcotic users to pass drug analysis.

Hayes was placed under arrest and transported to the Nolan County jail where he was charged with the felony offense of possession of controlled substance. The case will be filed with the 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

delgado, arnulfoOn Wednesday, June 17, 2015, a driver license violation prompted the stop of a Pontiac sedan in Sweetwater that led to seizure of suspected marijuana and the arrest of a Sweetwater man.

A Nolan County deputy stopped a maroon Pontiac Grand Am for a driver license violation in the 100 block of Texas Avenue, Sweetwater. Contact was made with the driver, Arnulfo Delgado, of Sweetwater who was accompanied by a passenger, also of Sweetwater. Delgado and his passenger were requested to exit the vehicle where a roadside investigation was conducted.

Wile speaking with Delgado, the deputy noticed indications of criminal activity, whereupon she requested consent to search the vehicle but was denied. The Sweetwater Police Department was then contacted, and a K9 unit was requested. Sergeant Rob Hohman arrived on scene and deployed a K9, where an open-air sniff operation was conducted. The K9 alerted on the passenger side of the vehicle, as it made its way to the center console, justifying a “probable cause” search.

Delgado was later found to have discarded a plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana in plain sight. He was detained and a search of the vehicle was conducted which lead to the discovery of drug paraphernalia and remnants of marijuana.

Delgado was placed under arrest and transported to the Nolan County jail where he was charged with the misdemeanor offense of possession of marijuana and Instantered for no driver’s license (when unlicensed). The case will be filed with the Nolan County Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

He is a 29 year-old Hispanic male, 5’6″, 169 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, and last reported to reside at 904 Bowie, or 815 East Arizona, Sweetwater.
