Investigators with the 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office, and Roscoe Police Department are actively searching for a 28 year old fugitive, who’s been dodging the long arm of the law. Jessie Lee Deboard is wanted on warrant #11789 that was issued out of the 32nd Judicial District Court on January 14, 2015, for the offense of Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon. Deboard has reported to be unemployed, and is last known to be living at either 111 Neeves Street in Roby, or most recent reported address, 210 Newman Street in Sweetwater. Deboard stands tall at 6’6”, weighs 250lbs, and has brown hair and blue eyes.

Jacob Cole Mendez has outstanding warrant #18968 that was issued out of the Nolan County Multicounty Court at law on December 30, 2014 for the offense of Burglary of Vehicle. His last known address is 1910 Chester Street, Sweetwater, Texas 79556.

Unfortunately, this thief has been moving from place to place and has not been apprehended. Burglary of Habitation (Sweetwater)

On Saturday, January 10, 2015, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Burglary of Habitation that occurred in the 5000 block of Highway 70, in Sweetwater. It was reported that sometime between Sunday, January 4, 2015 and Saturday, January 10, 2015, an unknown person(s) entered the property. Once on the property, the theive(s) entered a residence and took numerous firearms, televisions and other miscellaneous property. This burglary is currently under investigation, and the value of the items taken has not yet been estimated.

Vehicle Inspection and Registration processes effective March 1, 2015

The Nolan County Sheriff’s Office wants to make citizens aware of the new Vehicle Inspection and Registration processes that will take effect March 1, 2015.

Vehicle owners will be issued one sticker as proof of inspection and registration. Inspection stations will no longer issue inspection stickers.

Step One
Vehicles will be required to pass a vehicle inspection, you will retain the vehicle inspection report issued to you by the station.

Step Two
When renewing your annual registration by mail, online, or in person, your vehicle inspection status will be verified electronically. A passing inspection is required for registration.

If your vehicle passed inspection, but the system is unable to electronically verify it, simply present your valid, passing Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR) at the time of registration.

Criminal Mischief (Maryneal)

On Monday, December 29, 2014, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of criminal mischief that occurred at several construction sites located on FM 608, and County Road 133, in Maryneal. It was reported that sometime between Tuesday, December 23, 2014 and Monday, December 29, 2014, an unknown person(s) traveled onto the said property and maliciously destroyed the tires on industrial/heavy equipment that had been left there overnight. Damages are estimated at over $6,000.00.

Traffic stop leads to an arrest and seizure of marijuana

HOBBS, RUSSELLOn Thursday, December 11, 2014, at approximately 7:45pm, a Nolan County deputy initiated a traffic stop in the 2100 block of Lamar Street. Upon speaking with the driver, Russell Hobbs of Sweetwater, who was accompanied by a passenger, also of Sweetwater, the deputy noticed indications of criminal activity, whereupon he requested and received consent to search the vehicle.

Hobbs was requested to exit the vehicle where a pat down of his person was conducted, and a small plastic baggy containing suspected marijuana was discovered, concealed in his pant pocket. The passenger was then requested to exit, and a search of the vehicle was conducted that lead to the discovery of a large zip lock baggy, containing numerous individual baggies inside full of suspected marijuana, located a natural compartment of the vehicle.

Hobbs was arrested and transported to the Nolan County jail where he was charged with the offense of delivery of marijuana. The case will be filed with the Nolan County Attorney for prosecution.
