Burglary of Building (Out of County Assist)

The Nolan County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Coke County Sheriff’s Office in locating a male suspect that burglarized a storage facility in Coke County on Sunday, September 7, 2014. Image captures show the thief to be approximately 5’8” to 6’ in height, medium build and wearing short hair. The thief appears to be a clean cut white male that was traveling in a dark colored pickup. Image captures show the vehicle to be a dark colored Chevrolet or GMC pickup with “Z71” or possibly “4X4” decals on the rear quarter panels. The vehicle appears to have tires that are mounted on black wheels with aluminum accents, and is equipped with fender flares, a black tool box, a black full rear bumper replacement, a black front grille guard and may have mounted off-road lights.

Burglary of Building (Sweetwater)

On Wednesday, September 17, 2014, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Burglary of Building that occurred at the Storage Store located in the 1200 block of Highway 70, in Sweetwater. It was reported that an unknown person(s) entered the property, and used force to gain entry into a group of storage units in the facility. Once inside, the thieve(s) took miscellaneous cookware valued at approximately $200.00.

Theft (Blackwell)

On Saturday, September 13, 2014, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of theft that occurred in the 5500 block of county road 181, in Blackwell. It was reported that sometime between Saturday, September 13, 2014 and Sunday, September 14, 2014, an unknown person(s) entered the property and took a 500 gallon fuel trailer that contained an estimated 150 gallons of red diesel fuel. The combined value of the fuel trailer and fuel contained is estimated at approximately $4,067.50.

On Tuesday, September 2, 2014, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Burglary of Building that occurred in the 4300 block of County Road 111, in Roscoe. It was reported that sometime between Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at 5:30PM and Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at 7:00AM, an unknown person(s) entered the property and used force by cutting to gain entry onto a building. Once inside, the thieve(s) took a three piece commercial grade toolbox and a 4-ton floor jack. The combined value of the items taken is estimated at approximately $4,150.00.

Burglary of Habitation (Lake Sweetwater)

On Sunday, August 31, 2014, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Burglary of Habitation that occurred in the 300 block of County Road 252, in Sweetwater. It was reported that sometime between Sunday, August 10, 2014, at 12:00PM and Sunday, August 31, 2014, at 5:07AM, an unknown person(s) entered the property and used force to gain entry into the residence. Once inside, the thieve(s) took a riding lawnmower, a washing machine, a 48 inch flat panel television, and a home stereo system. The combined value of the items taken is estimated at approximately $3,500.00.

Welfare concern leads to an arrest and seizure of methamphetamine and paraphernalia

TAYLOR, RYAN WALTEROn Saturday, August 30, 2014, a Nolan County deputy observed a green Chevrolet truck parked off the roadway in the 9600 block of Highway 70, with a person slumped over the steering wheel. Upon speaking with the driver Ryan Taylor, of Arkansas, the deputy noticed indications of deception, whereupon he requested and received consent to search the vehicle. Taylor was requested to exit the vehicle where an investigation could be conducted.

Before searching the vehicle, the deputy discovered paraphernalia used in the consumption of methamphetamine on the driver seat. A search was then conducted that lead to the discovery of paraphernalia used in the consumption of marijuana. Upon completing the search, the deputy retrieved Taylor’s wallet from the hood of the truck where he had been instructed to stand, and discovered a clear plastic baggy on the ground that contained suspected methamphetamine. Taylor had attempted to discard the suspected methamphetamine during the deputy’s search of the vehicle.

Taylor was arrested and transported to the Nolan County jail where he was charged with the felony offense of possession of controlled substance. The case will be filed with the 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
