On Monday, September 3, 2012, at approximately 5:00PM, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary of vehicle that took place on Interstate Highway Twenty at the eastbound rest area, in Sweetwater. It was reported that at approximately 5:15PM, a white male and white female arrived at the rest area in a white Ford F-150 pickup. Once on the property, the thieves entered a vehicle that was parked behind the main building, and took a pink beach bag. The bag was reported to contain numerous personal items such as identification cards, photographs, US currency, and prescription medication. It was later found that at approximately 7:27PM, a debit card that was in the bag had been used at a local business in Abilene, Texas. The Abilene Police Department was notified and is conducting an investigation as to the transaction.
