On Monday, November 23, 2015, a Nolan County deputy traveled to an apartment located in the 1600 block of Grand Avenue to serve a civil document. Unknown to the deputy, the apartment would lead to the discovery of a wanted felon who had been avoiding apprehension. During the service, the deputy immediately recognized the female as being in a relationship with Willie Norman, a Sweetwater man wanted by Taylor County authorities for Robbery, a felony offense. While speaking with the female, the deputy could hear a male voice coming from inside the residence and was subsequently allowed to enter, locate and apprehend Norman.

Norman has an outstanding felony warrant issued out of Taylor County for Robbery and a misdemeanor warrant for Driving While Intoxicated w/Open Container. The execution of a high-risk search warrant landed two people in jail Wednesday night
On Wednesday, October 28, 2015, members of the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Public Safety and U.S. Marshals Service executed a federal search warrant in the 600 block of East New Mexico, in Sweetwater. Taken into custody was Leonard Linton Hill, of Sweetwater and Donald Ray Redeau, of Louisiana. A search of the residence followed that lead to the discovery and seizure of a large quantity of narcotics, paraphernalia and firearms.
Officers then traveled to the 1600 block of Grand Avenue, in Sweetwater where Rodney Earl Lipscomb, of Louisiana was taken into custody. All three men were arrested and transported to the Nolan County jail where they will be held on a combined total of seventeen (17) federal charges.
One arrested for hindering during execution of an arrest warrant
On Wednesday, October 28, 2015, Nolan County deputies executed a felony arrest warrant in the 1200 block of Town Creek, where Christie Martinez, of Sweetwater was believed to be hiding. After speaking with the homeowner, entry into the residence was made and a search was conducted.
Deputies located Martinez hiding in a bedroom of the residence, where she was immediately taken into custody. Also taken into custody was Sybil Snider, of Sweetwater. Both women were arrested and transported to the Nolan County jail where Martinez was processed for two outstanding felony warrants and one parole warrant; Snider was charged with the felony offense of Hindering Apprehension. The case will be filed with the 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
Fugitive – Armed and Dangerous
The Nolan County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for Joshua “Josh” Dean Bookman who was originally wanted for questioning, is now a fugitive from justice that has been hiding to avoid detection by law enforcement. Bookman is a 26 year-old white male, 5’10”, 175 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. During the last contact with law enforcement, he was found to possess a firearm and therefor should be considered armed and dangerous. Bookman is known to drive a black mid-size sedan, and at the time of his last arrest, reported to reside at 209 West Louisiana, but is also known to reside at 906 West 3rd Street, Sweetwater. The Nolan County Sheriff’s Office needs your help to bring Bookman to justice.
