Criminal Mischief (Highland)

On Monday, May 27, 2013, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of criminal mischief that took place at a Whitewater Construction work site located in the 2000 block of county road 147, in Highland. It was reported that sometime between Sunday, May 26, 2013, at 5:30PM and Monday, May 27, 2013, at 7:00AM, an unknown person(s) traveled to the site and broke the windows of an excavator that was on the site parked near the roadway. The damage to the property is estimated at approximately $5,000.00.

Theft (Sweetwater)

On Tuesday, May 21, 2013, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft that occurred in the 10000 block of North Interstate Twenty, in Trent. It was reported that sometime between Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 12:00AM and Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 10:30AM, an unknown person(s) entered the property. Once inside, the thieve(s) cut an exposed 20` section of 3 strand 4.0 copper wire, and took it. The copper wire that was taken is only a section of the main service line which will need to be replaced in its entirety, and is estimated at approximately $1,500.00.

Theft (Trent)

On Monday, May 20, 2013, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft that took place at an LCS Production Pulling Unit, located in the 1400 block of North Interstate Twenty, in Trent. It was reported that sometime between Friday, May 17, 2013, at 6:00PM and Monday, May 20, 2013, at 7:00AM, an unknown person(s) entered the property. Once inside, the thieve(s) entered a pulling unit dog house and took eight (8) ball valves, three (3) check valves, one (1) pair of work boots, and one (1) pack of cigarettes. The combined value of the property that was taken is estimated at approximately $1,211.00.

On Thursday, May 16, 2013, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft that occurred at the eastbound rest area located at the 256 mile post, Interstate Twenty, in Sweetwater. It was reported that sometime between Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 10:00PM and Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 7:00AM, an unknown person(s) took Arizona license plate AE36607 from an Iron Mountain Auto Transport LLC 44728 trailer.

Suspicious fires continue to plague Roscoe area

FireNolan County residents – the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office, Roscoe Volunteer and Sweetwater Fire Departments have responded to several incidents in and around the Roscoe Community, some involving structure fires in the last two months. Please be alert to suspicious activity and report your observations. All fires still burning small or large should be reported immediately by dialing 9-1-1. Fires that are out and with damage of charring should be reported as suspicious activity by calling the Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number (325) 235-5471. Courthouse Facade Remediation

Courthouse Facade RemediationEffective Monday, May 6, 2013, work is scheduled to begin on the Nolan County Courthouse facade remediation. The north parking lot and east parking lot will be closed to the general public, and as the work progresses, the parking lot closings will move to the south and west sides of the building as necessary.

However, part of the northeast end of the courthouse parking lot will be available for handicap access and entrance only.
