On Monday, September 21, 2015, at approximately 8pm, a Nolan County deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a red Pontiac Firebird, driven by Robert Rodriguez, a wanted felon. The deputy spotted Rodriguez in the 100 block of West Ave B; thereafter he began to flee in the vehicle, turning the stop into an active pursuit. After pursuing Rodriguez through several Sweetwater neighborhoods, he came to a stop in the 700 block of Pease Street where he surrendered peacefully. Rodriguez was placed under arrest and transported to the Nolan County jail where he was charged with an additional felony offense of evading arrest in vehicle. The case will be filed with the 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
