The Nolan County
Sheriff's Office operates a "New Generation"
adult detention facility that is located at
, Sweetwater, Texas and is designed to house 96 inmates.
The facility which incorporates contemporary concepts
in jail design opened in May of 2015 and provides detention
services for law enforcement agencies throughout Nolan
County, housing local, county, state, and federal inmates
of both pre-trial and convicted status. The facility is
equipped with state-of-the-art video surveillance systems,
video courtroom for first appearances, arraignments and
bond hearings, court teleconferencing, telephones, intercoms,
radios, computerized jail management and electronic (inkless)
AFIS finger and palm print system to establish identity.
Designed as a full service facility, it utilizes inmate
labor under the supervision of jail staff to prepare meals
daily which meet federal and state nutritional requirements.
Inmates are also utilized in other areas of the facility
such as the commissary, laundry room, ground maintenance,
custodial duties, and a variety of off-site details.
Inmate care provided includes on-site medical and mental
health services. General population inmates are allotted
one 20-minute visit per week. Disciplinary action or classification
may affect visitation and/or telephone privileges. The
inmate Commissary and telephone systems are provided by
outside vendors. |
