The Transport
section is responsible for all inmates taken to and from
the court system. This includes remaining with inmates
during all court proceedings, providing courtroom security
for the court to which they are assigned and making arrests
during court on warrants or any violation of the law.
Other responsibilities include transporting and extraditing
apprehended fugitives from across the State of Texas
or from anywhere within the United States. Fugitives
that are incarcerated in another state or county jail
facility are transported back to Nolan County to face
pending criminal charges.
Deputies in this section also deal with daily inmate
medical appointments such as but not limited to; doctor's
office, dental visits, surgery, x-rays, emergency room
visits, emergency committals and inpatient hospital
stays. The section also delivers lawfully committed
prisoners to designated state facilities.
